Wellness Exams
Exams are recommended on all pets at least once per year. Our veterinarians will perform a hands-on examination assessing eyes, ears, mouth/teeth, lymph nodes, heart, lungs, abdominal organs, joints, and skin. The examination, along with a thorough history provided by you (day to day activities, travel, exposure to other animals, hunting behaviors, etc.), will provide information allowing us to develop a health plan specific to your pet. This plan will include updating appropriate vaccinations, parasite control, blood work, and urine assessment (if applicable). We will review weight management and discuss any diagnostic testing or procedures we feel are in the interest of your pet’s health. These appointments are important to keep your pet healthy by detecting disease early and initiating appropriate treatment.
For dogs, we offer vaccinations against Distemper, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza, Adenovirus, Bordetella(kennel cough), Rabies, and Lyme disease. With notice, we would be happy to bring in any vaccine that may be required for travel.
For cats, we offer vaccinations against Leukemia virus, Rhinotracheitis, Panleukopenia, Calici Virus, and Rabies.
Laboratory Diagnostics
We have an in-house laboratory allowing us to run tests on-site. Specialized tests are sent to a referring diagnostic laboratory.
In-house testing includes, but not limited to:
blood analysis (CBC, chemistries, pancreatic and thyroid)
urinalysis,
fecal testing including floatations for parasites, giardia and parvo testing,

Dentistry
Dental disease is a very common finding in our pet population, but did you know that dental disease can lead to serious internal health issues as well? The good news is that dental disease is preventable!
Your pet’s teeth are assessed at their annual appointments. Signs of dental disease include: bad breath, tartar, gum inflammation, loose teeth, difficulties chewing, drooling, nasal discharge, and missing or broken teeth. Recommendations will be made based on the degree of dental disease noted on exam. At Crestview Veterinary Hospital, we will work with you as a team to offer preventative measures for your pet, routine dental cleanings as well as addressing diseased mouths. Prevention is aimed at stopping the disease before it happens.
Like us, pets will require routine dental cleanings throughout their lives. We brush our teeth at least two times per day, and still require scaling of our teeth once to twice annually. Routine dental cleanings are a cost effective investment in your pet’s health. Luckily if disease is detected early it may be reversed; however if disease it left untreated, neglected teeth can turn into serious and costly problems.
